FARM BASED LEARNING COMMUNITY

Our learning community program offers educational workshops with an agricultural focus to K-12 students.  Our program is open to public school students, homeschoolers and online learners.  At this time, we offer focused workshops within the context of real life situations on the farm.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and grow through the lessons of nature and sustainable agriculture.  Permaculture is the development of agricultural eco-systems, which are intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient through following specific principles. Permaculture principles allow us to observe life through a systems lens, learning to create symbiotic relationships between species with the goal of creating a harmonious system.  These lessons can be applicable to our lives and within our own systems.

We strive to create nature-based learning opportunities which reinforce theoretical learning done in a school setting.  Other learning activities will include beekeeping, animal care, learning how to provide appropriate care for diverse plants, trees, and vegetables, seed management, and farm to table cooking and preserving workshops.

Our future goals include starting a full-time nature-based school on the farm.  Stay tuned!
