What Happens in a Neurotherapy Session?

After we have done an initial assessment and found out how your brain is functioning and what your goals may be, we then set up a plan for sessions.  A session might looks something like this:

  • You come into the neurotherapy room or the Brain Spa and greet your technician

  • You might report any effects from the previous session, or explain how you are feeling today

  • The technician will attach sensors to your head (or body, if we are doing biofeedback) and set you up for either neurofeedback or neurostimulation.

  • During neurofeedback, you are facing a computer screen and receiving feedback in the form of visuals, sounds, and possibly even tactile sensations.  You will “play” a variety of brain games for about 20 minutes before doing a different task.  There are breaks for your brain between each game.

  • If you are doing neurostimulation, you can read a book, watch a video, or chat with your technician once the sensors have been put into position. Sometimes the technician will adjust the intensity, depending on your feedback. You would do this for anywhere from 20 – 40 minutes.

Neurotherapy

Unlock The Power Of Your Brain With Neurotherapy

Neurotherapy is a proven approach for managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, other mental health concerns, healing from brain injuries, and even optimizing brain functioning. By retraining your brain's neural patterns, you can achieve lasting emotional balance and resilience.

What is Neurotherapy?

Neurotherapy is an approach to help your brain function at its best. We use a variety of technologies so that you can "see" what is happening in your brain, as well as to assist to make changes to improve functioning. Neurotherapy has been researched and shown to make significant improvements for those living with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and brain injuries. Some even use it to increase peak performance.

Benefits of Neurotherapy

Neurotherapy can address brain health issues in ways that traditional talk therapy cannot.  There is good research to support the use of neurotherapy techniques to address attention, anxiety, depression, trauma, brain injury, and peak performance.

Improve Focus

Neurotherapy improves concentration by training the brain to develop healthier patterns, making it a viable non-pharmaceutical alternative for conditions like ADHD.

Reduce Anxiety

By promoting self-regulation of brain activity, neurotherapy can help to reduce stress and anxiety, fostering a sense of calm and emotional balance.

Sleep Better

Neurotherapy can address sleep disturbances by normalizing brainwave activity, leading to more restorative and consistent sleep patterns.

Types of Assessments

All of the assessment types include an EGG recording of your brain activity at rest (eyes open and eyes closed)

Stable Roots Neurotherapy Basic Assessment

Basic Assessment

The basic assessment provides you with surface and cortical maps of your brain's activity. Maps are available to you digitally, so that you can save them for your own records. Most people also schedule a debriefing session to review the key findings of the maps.

Stable Roots Neurotherapy Standard Assessment

Standard Assessment

The standard assessment combines both brain and body assessments. We do a physiological Stress Test to see how your body responds to stress, and more importantly, how long it takes to recover. This is important because we know that the brain and body are connected and one influences the other!

Stable Roots Neurotherapy Extended Assessment

Extended Assessment

The extended assessment is a very in-depth look at brain and body functioning, including a battery of psychological assessments and/or a measure of cognitive processing. The benefit of this assessment is the written report with a customized list of recommendations to help you achieve your wellness goals.

We can also do an add-on assessment of your brain as it completes a task. This would be helpful if you have concerns about your brain's processing power and speed. Ask us about an ERP - Event-Related Potential Analysis.

Brain Spa

But what if I just want to try out some of the technologies that you use?  Do I have to go through a full assessment?

Come and unwind in our Brain Spa, a calming space designed to reset your mind using gentle, cutting- edge technology, specifically designed for brain healing.

Our Brain Spa technologies can address symptoms of stress/anxiety, depression, brain fog, and head injuries. We can show you how to re- train your brain and body for improved functioning.

Brain Spa Technologies

After your intake, you choose either 25- or 50-minute sessions, whichever best fits your schedule and your needs.

  • $80 for 25 minute session

  • $160 for 50 minute session

Your extended medical may cover some of the cost.

One aspect of neurotherapy that I love is being able to reveal and confirm for a client what it is they are actually experiencing.

One aspect of neurotherapy that I love is being able to reveal and confirm for a client what it is they are actually experiencing.

For example, I had a client who was feeling very anxious and over aroused, but the people closest to her were saying that she was overreacting and just needed to “suck it up”.

After doing a brain map, and also a check on heart rate variability, we were able to actually see where her brain was overactive (which was contributing to her anxiety symptoms). We could also see her levels of arousal in the nervous system. Both of these confirmed that she wasn't crazy and it went a long way to easing her mind, and also making her feel a sense of agency that she could do something about her anxiety.
